Moody’s Investor’s Service
Upgrades Bond Rating
Moody’s Investor’s Service, an independent
credit rating service, has upgraded the
credit rating of the Harrison Central School
District from Aa3 to Aa2, citing healthy
reserve levels, sound financial management
and a favorable debt position. According to
a report released by Moody’s, the upgrade is
based on continued sound budgeting
practices, including budgeting for annual
tax certiorari settlements, that facilitated
the fiscal turnaround of a three year
decline in General Fund balance and a
significant increase in reserves. The
increase in our bond rating reaffirms the
goals established as part of the district’s
strategic plan to facilitate long and
short-range financial management aligned to
support the district’s educational goals and
improve economic efficiencies.
