Following the outcome of
the referendum vote,
Harrison
Board of Education President David Singer made the following
statement:
The Board of Education is disappointed by
the results of the referendum.
However, we thank all of those who took the time to
understand the very complex issues facing our district and who
participated in today’s referendum.
Despite the outcome of the
vote, the challenges that this referendum attempted to address
remain:
Harrison’s school buildings are outdated and
urgently need to be fixed.
The Board will continue to focus on these challenges, and
make a recommendation to the community about moving forward to
address the significant infrastructure and facilities issues.
The Board of Education remains
committed to ensuring that every child in
Harrison
is educated in buildings that support and nurture their
development as students and as citizens of the 21st
century. The Board
will adhere to its commitment to provide high quality academic
programs for every child in the district in a learning
environment that supports excellence.
