PSAT Reminder

Good evening, this is Christopher Miller, Supervisor of Guidance for the Harrison Central School District on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at 6:00pm.

This is a reminder for those students taking the PSAT tomorrow morning.

Students should report directly to the small gymnasium lobby immediately upon arriving at school. Seating charts and room locations will be available on the walls outside the small gym. Students should bring a few #2 pencils and a calculator.

We will begin promptly Wednesday morning at 7:45 AM.

We anticipate concluding the PSAT by 11:30 so that lunch will be offered during 6th period.

HHS Temporary Building Evacuation

     Good afternoon, this is a message from the Harrison Central School District on Wednesday October 8, 2008 at 1:15 PM.  This is Dr. Ruck, Principal of Harrison High School speaking. At anytime during this message you may press any number on your keypad to replay this message from the beginning.

      This message is about the temporary evacuation at the high school today.

      At 11:45 AM it was reported via staff that we had the smell of natural gas in the D corridor.  We immediately implemented our emergency evacuation procedure to evacuate the building.  The gas line leading to the effected area of the building was shut off. The Harrison Fire Department arrived at the high school and contacted Con Edison, who arrived shortly thereafter.  It was determined that there was a broken gas valve on one of the science tables.  The room and surrounding areas were checked, and we received the approval from both Con Ed and the Harrison Fire Department that it was safe to return to the building.  The broken valve is in the process of being repaired.  Students and staff returned to the building at 12:20 PM.   Classes resumed on a shortened period schedule.  Normal dismissal will occur at 2:30 PM.

PSAT and PLAN Reminder

Good evening, this is Christopher Miller, Supervisor of Guidance for the Harrison Central School District on Monday, October 06, 2008, at 6:30pm. 

This is a reminder for students and parents.  The registration deadline for the upcoming PSAT and PLAN tests is this Wednesday, October 10.

ALL Sophomores are encouraged to take the PLAN as it is a practice ACT test geared for sophomores.

ALL Juniors are encouraged to take the PSAT as it is a practice SAT test.

It is advisable to discuss your plans further with your counselor if you feel you should take both.  Information on both tests can be found in our College Planning Guide or by visiting SAT and ACT websites. 

Some sophomores and juniors may choose to take both the PLAN and the PSAT.  It is advisable to discuss options further with your counselor.  Please call us at 630-3101.

The cost is $15 for each exam.  Students should register for the exams in the guidance office.  Financial aid is available.

Harrison High School Homecoming Dance

Good evening, this is a message from the Harrison Central School District on Monday, October 6th at 7:00 p.m. This is Ms. Barbagallo assistant principal of Harrison High School speaking. This message is to alert you that the Harrison High School Homecoming Dance will be held in the high school’s small gym on October 18th from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per student, and ticket request forms are available in the main office. Completed forms with payment must be deposited in the drop box located in the main office prior to October 18th. Students from other schools may attend but only if the necessary paperwork has been submitted and approved by the administration. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

The attire for this event is semi-formal. The announcement of “Homecoming Princes and Princesses” will be made on October 17th during school hours. However, the “Homecoming King and Queen” will be revealed at the dance. Tickets to this event can also be purchased during the HHS Open House on October 7th. If any student is in need of a reduced price ticket, please contact Ms. Morrissey or Ms. Makarczuk.

HHS Open House
(10/7/08)

Good evening, this is a message from the Harrison Central School District on Friday, October 3rd at 6:00 p.m.  This is Dr. Ruck, Principal of Harrison High School speaking. At anytime during this message you may press any number on your keypad to replay this message from the beginning.

This is a reminder that the HHS Open House is next Tuesday, October 7th at 7:00 p.m.  The evening’s activities will begin in the Harrison Performing Arts Center with a welcome and announcements and then parents will be sent on their way through the regular school day schedule.  Each class period will be ten minutes in length, with 3 minutes passing time between periods.  A time schedule for classes will be available when you arrive.  Your child’s personal schedule was mailed to you earlier this week.  If you did not receive it you may pick up a copy here at school that evening.  

     The evening activities will focus on the curriculum and expectations that are before the students in your child’s classes.  We expect the session to be interesting, informative and enjoyable for you.  We look forward to seeing you Tuesday night.

Junior Senior Parent College Orientation

Good evening, this is Christopher Miller, Supervisor of Guidance for the Harrison Central School District on Sunday, September 14, at 6:00pm.

Harrison High School's Guidance Department will be hosting our annual Junior Senior Parent College Orientation this coming Tuesday, September 16 in the high school Performaing Arts Center at 7:00pm.

This is an important orientation and will provide a runthrough of the college application process. Updated College Planning Guides will also be made available.

This is also another reminder for seniors who have not yet returned their senior transcript. Seniors should return their yellow transcript to the guidance office.

Transcript Reminder

Good evening, this is Christopher Miller, Supervisor of Guidance for the Harrison Central School District on Friday, September 5, at 5:30pm.

This is a reminder for seniors. In your opening day school mailing you received a copy of your unofficial transcript printed on yellow paper. It is important that you review, sign and return this transcript to guidance by Monday, September 8. This will allow us to finalize student records for the purpose of GPA and rank. This will also allow us to send official transcripts to colleges and universities.

Saturday Band Activities Due to Inclement Weather

In the interest of safety, all Band activities on Saturday 9/6 have been postponed. There will not be a morning rehearsal or an afternoon game performance on Saturday 9/6. The game has been rescheduled for Sunday 9/7 at 4PM. Please report to the bandroom on Sunday 9/7 at 1PM for a quick rehearsal before our performance later in the afternoon. Please bring the alternate uniform (the one with maroon pants).

Senior Leave And/or Parking Permission Forms

Good evening, this is a message from the Harrison Central School District on Friday,  August 15th, at 6pm.  This is Ms. Barbagallo, Assistant Principal of Harrison High School speaking. This message is to alert you that information has been mailed to you about granting permission for your son/daughter to leave campus during his/her free periods and/or to grant permission for him/her to drive to school and park on campus.  There will be a mandatory meeting for all seniors applying for parking on September 4th at 2:35pm in the law room.  Parking permits will be issued at that time.  A make-up meeting has been scheduled for September 5th at 2:35pm in the law room.  There will not be a lottery for parking this year.  The letter of explanation and the permission form can also be downloaded from the HHS website under “Students.”
