Our
Mission

The Harrison High School Library
Science & Information Management Center
is dedicated to enhancing the learning experience of all students at Harrison High School.
The Center seeks to integrate printed, audiovisual, and electronic media into a
comprehensive and integrated unit for student access and retrieval of intellectual
resources.
The Center provides a wide range of opportunities
for the school community.
The aim is to facilitate and improve learning with emphasis on intellectual content,
inquiry, and the interactive role of the learner. Therefore, each learner is encouraged to
read, view, listen, construct, and create, employing human resources and the full range of
media including printed, audiovisual, computerized and other forms of information
retrieval and communication, as well as their accompanying technologies, in a way
consistent with the individual's learning style.
The Library Science & Information Management Center includes opportunities for an on-line catalog accessible from anywhere in the school and local community, an automated circulation system, networked CD-Rom programs accessible and integrated with the Computer Center and classrooms, networked links between home, classroom, Computer Center for E-mail and on-line databases.
The Library Science & Information Management Center is a cooperative program utilizing library personnel, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members in an effort to maximize opportunities for the social, cultural, and educational growth of the student.
