Health Insurance Benefit Summary


Overview

 

CSEA employees who are appointed to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in the District's health insurance plan SWSCHP(State-Wide Schools Cooperative Health Plan).  SWSCHP represents a consortium of school districts and provides a PPO plan that includes comprehensive coverage through network health care providers.

The biweekly, pre-tax contribution toward health insurance by participating civil service employees for 2014-15 is as follows:

Open Enrollment

Existing employees who are appointed to work more than twenty (20) hours per week may initiate health insurance coverage or change health plans during the annual open enrollment period.  The open enrollment period is the month of November for coverage commencing January 1st of the following calendar year.  In order to enroll in a two-person or family plan, employees must provide copies of a marriage license and birth certificate of any children.  If any children to be covered are 19 or older, employees will also need to provide a full-time student verification form from the college or university they are attending.

Health Benefit Waiver

Civil service employees who wish to waive health insurance provided by the District because they are covered through another insurance provider are eligible to receive a rebate equivalent to 50% of the amount the District would have paid toward health insurance coverage on their behalf.  Click here for the Health Insurance Waiver Form and consult the Collective Bargaining Agreement for more details about this benefit.
