The Harrison High School Friends of Rachel Club continues on the mission of helping others and creating a safe, kind and positive environment in their school community and their greater community.
In response to the devastating Hurricanes that impacted many of the country’s communities, the Friends of Rachel partnered with the Students’ Advisory Board to organize a drive to collect school supplies for the students of Hitchcock High School in Hitchcock, Texas who were affected by Hurricane Harvey. The two groups received donations from the Harrison community, organized the supplies and sent them to the school in Texas along with messages of support.
In October, the club participated in Sock-tober and collected socks for the homeless in Westchester County. The group also collected candy and provided the donation to the Veterans of Westchester County.
The Club also partnered with the Youth Volunteers of Harrison club at Harrison High School and created cards of kindness and inspiration for the children who are battling cancer at Blythedale Hospital. Together they made a card for every child currently at the hospital and cards for children who had been recently discharged and who are recovering at home.
