HHS Marching Band Sharpens Skills at UConn

HHS Marching Band Sharpens Skills at UConn

The HHS marching band travelled to the University of Connecticut and participated in workshops to learn marching skills and sound production techniques led by the UConn marching band faculty. Dr. David Mills, Director of the UConn Marching Band, Prof. Ricardo Brown, UConn Assistant Band Director and tech for Blue Coats and Cadets.  Harrison students also had the opportunity to interact and with other members of the UConn faculty, undergraduate and graduate students. The purpose of the trip was to provide an opportunity for Harrison Marching Band students to learn best practices from a long-established collegiate program. The visit also included an opportunity for the Harrison Marching Band to hold a practice session on the UConn Marching Band practice field.

Dr. Mills concluded the workshop with compliments for our students’ work as an ensemble and sent them home with hopes that “they’ll be part of the UConn band one day!”
