Harrison embraces and celebrates its diverse 3,500 student body, and the Board of Education has proudly and consistently pursued a mission of excellence and equity for all students. The Harrison Board of Education is characterized by stable, veteran leadership, and clear and long term vision for academic excellence for all of its students. The Harrison Central School District is among a handful of Districts in New York State to have achieved a AAA rating from Standard & Poor’s four times in the past decade. Respect for high quality education is evident by the overwhelming support of school budgets and an active educational foundation.

Our Distinguishing Accomplishments

  • The Washington Post Challenge Index, US News & World Report, and consistently ranks Harrison High School among the Best High Schools in New York at preparing all of its students for college and careers.

  • Our schools maintain an average class size of 22 students, which supports our commitment to differentiating instruction based on students’ diverse needs.

  • Harrison High School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, which is one of the most rigorous and highly regarded curricula among worldwide colleges and universities. The Class of 2017 has 36%of the students committed to achieving the IB Diploma and 93%have taken at least one IB course before completing high school.

  • Harrison Avenue Elementary was designated a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.

  • Louis M. Klein Middle School offers full-time foreign language instruction in French, Italian, and Spanish beginning in sixth grade and continuing through twelfth grade. Latin instruction is offered at the high school.

  • Harrison High School is proud of a comprehensive fine and performing arts program with courses in band, chorus, orchestra, percussion, theater, dance, and visual arts inclusive of IB offerings. HHS has been designated a Grammy Signature School Semifinalist three of the last four years, recognized by the NAMM Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education, and won the Best Overall Production at the Metro Theatre Awards.

  • Harrison High School is one of only three high schools nationally to offer students Multi-Variable Calculus (Calculus III) and Computer Software Engineering for credit through Syracuse University.

  • Harrison High School has nationally recognized Debate, Science Research (Intel), Technology (Best in Nation for Verizon App Challenge), Model Congress, DECA Business Competitions, and Moody’s Math Challenge Teams.

  • HCSD has modified, junior varsity and varsity sports programs committed to excellence on the field and in the classroom with 91% of our twenty-nine varsity teams designated as NYSPHSAA scholar-athlete teams for the past five years.
