HHS Boys Golf Win League, Send Seven to Sectionals, and Two to States (Update)



The Harrison High School Boys Golf Team has won the League Championship and are currently the number one ranked team in Section 1 heading into the Individual Golf Sectionals on Monday, May 22nd at Waccabuc Country Club.  There are over 70 golf teams in Section 1 and only the top 60 golfers advance to the individual sectional play.  This year, Harrison has qualified seven of the top 60 golfers in Section 1. 
They are as follows (based on rankings as of Friday, May 19th):

Brian Aslanian - Captain - Junior - 15th in Section 1 - Differential of 3.27
Luke Steinthal - Captain - Senior - 16th in Section 1 - Differential of 3.35
Billy Daraio     - Senior - 26th in Section 1 - Differential of 4.07
Joseph Reilly  - Sophomore - 28th in Section 1 - Differential of 4.19
Dylan Karofsky - Captain - Senior - 29th in Section 1 - Differential of 4.25
Michael Cappelli - Junior - 38th in Section 1 - Differential of 4.73
Will Pizzutello - Senior - 54th in Section 1 - Differential of 5.57

UPDATE #1: After Day 1, four of the seven golfers advanced to Day 2 at Fenway Country Club.  Captains junior Brian Aslanian and senior Luke Steinthal are tied for 7th place, captain senior Dylan Karofsky is in 13th and sophomore Joseph Reilly is in 26th place.  The two day event total will determine the top 9 golfers who will represent Section 1 at the New York State Championships.

UPDATE #2:  After Day 2 of the Section 1 tournament. both Brian Aslanian and Luke Steinthal earned bids to the New York State Championship, finishing in the top 9 of the Section.  Aslanian carded two 75's to finish in third place, and Steinthal finished in a three way tie for seventh.  Dylan Karofsky finished in 13th and only two strokes off the top nine and Joseph Reilly finished in 17th.  The NY State Championships will be held June 4-5 at Cornell.

UPDATE #3: The Harrison Boys Golf Team won the Team Conference Championships on Tuesday, May 30th at Tamarack County Club, shooting a collective 207.  Brian Aslanian carded the low round with a 38.  The Team will now compete against the other Conference Champions for the Section 1 title on Wednesday, May 31 at Fenway Country Club.

UPDATE #4: In the Section 1 Team Championship, the Huskies competed against the other Conference Champions (Scarsdale, Rye, and Bronxville).  Although the team shot a terrif score of 199, they came in second place behind Scarsdaleto end their amazing season. Dylan Karofsky had the lowest round of the team with a 37.

The team will still compete following this week.  As a result of their outstanding team play this season, they have been selected to host the team conference finals at Tamarack Country Club next week.  All four league champions will play for the team Section 1 title.
