Spring 2022 NYSED Testing Letter

March 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians:

In the weeks ahead, students in grades 3-8 will engage in a series of New York State Department of Education (NYSED) designed assessments.  The ELA and mathematics examinations will take place over two consecutive days with a suggested time allotment that varies according to grade level and exam type. Students may take as much time for the exams as they need to complete them.  In the event a student requires more time than recommended by NYSED, he/she may continue taking the exam in his/her current setting or in an alternate location supervised by a different proctor.

It is important to remember that these assessments represent only one measure of student learning.  However, our expectation, as always, is that students give their very best effort.  You can assist your child/children in being prepared on the days of administration by ensuring they:

  • Get a full night sleep;
  • Pick out clothes to wear the night before;
  • Eat breakfast before coming to school;
  • Arrive to school on time;
  • Think positively and be confident!
