6/7 Update from the Superintendent

Revised Mask Wearing Requirements from NYSDOH

Update: June 7, 2021

Dear Members of the Harrison Learning Community,

I received notification this evening at 8:41 PM from the New York State Department of Health that states:

...face masks are not required to be worn outdoors on school grounds, including during outdoor school sports. However, [school districts] may choose to require face masks outdoors on school grounds subject to the parameters of this guidance. No student, teacher, staff member, or visitor may be prevented from wearing an acceptable face mask voluntarily on school grounds.

Beginning tomorrow, June 8, 2021, students, teachers, staff, and visitors, irrespective of vaccination status, are no longer required to wear masks while outdoors on school property.

The New York State Department of Health still requires that students, faculty, staff, and visitors must continue to wear masks indoors while in school for the remainder of the school year or until further notice.

All other guidance for visitors, celebrations, and graduations remain unchanged. I will continue to monitor information and share any changes in guidance from the State as it becomes available.

Your principals and I have implemented building-specific plans and will do everything possible to ensure the comfort and safety of your children during the current heatwave.

Sincerely,

Louis N. Wool, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
