Coronavirus Update August 14: Virtual Learning Option

Update from the Superintendent of Schools

Update: August 14 2020

Dear Harrison Learning Community,

After careful consideration, the Harrison Central School District will add the option of a fully virtual learning model for any student. Details of this option will be included in our updated plan and shared at our parent meetings next week. Meetings will be live-streamed, and links may be accessed below:

High School Plan:  August 17th at 7 PM
LMK Middle School Plan:  August 18th at 7 PM
Elementary Schools Plan:  August 19th at 7 PM

Parents are understandably and justifiably confused and frightened by inconsistent public statements. The shifting standards for the safe reopening of school also cause grave concern among faculty and staff. This dilemma has not been caused by parents or school districts, and inconsistent statements by public officials have made it difficult for parents to make informed and thoughtful choices about the well-being of their children.

The health and safety of our students, faculty and staff remain our most important priority. We will do everything possible to make each experience of in-person, hybrid, and virtual learning meaningful for students. The District will continue to respond as information and circumstances change and adapt our instructional programs to best serve the needs of our students.

Sincerely,

Louis N. Wool Ed.D.
Superintendent
