Harrison Community Celebrates the Class of 2020!

The Harrison Central School District proudly hosted graduation and moving up ceremonies for students from all six schools: Harrison High School, LMK Middle School, Harrison Avenue Elementary School, Parsons Elementary School, Preston Elementary School, and Purchase Elementary School. The ceremonies were held in the parking lot of Wegmans. This outdoor venue allowed for students and their families to celebrate this important milestone and, as Dr. Wool had stated throughout the spring, fulfill the promise of concluding this school year by filling it with memories both positive and unique.

Principals enthusiastically welcomed students and families, nestled together in cars, and remarked on students’ resilience and adaptability over the past months as they navigated remote learning in the midst of a pandemic.

Dr. Wool greeted families and thanked parents, faculty and the entire Harrison Learning Community for all they have done in support of students.  At the Moving Up Ceremonies he reminded students about the importance of connecting what they see to what is in their hearts and encouraged them to take this next step to LMK and Harrison High School with open hearts, open eyes, and willingness to connect with others to make their new world a better place.

At the HHS graduation, Dr. Wool remarked on the multiple challenges the Class of 2020 has overcome during their young lives and observed that the graduates of Harrison High School already have demonstrated openness to accepting others, challenging norms and commitment to improving the world around them. He renamed the Class of 2020 from Generation Z to the Next Greatest Generation for their ability to overcome challenge and see possibility around them.

In addition to student speakers, Board of Education President, Kelly Mulvoy Mangan spoke at the LMK and HHS ceremonies.

The District would like to express appreciation to all who made these unique ceremonies possible, in particular the cooperation and generosity of Wegmans.
