2022 Summer Learning & Enrichment Preview

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I am excited to share that once again the Harrison Central School District will offer creative and engaging learning opportunities for students entering grades 1 through 12. The programs developed by Harrison teachers for Harrison students bridge learning gaps, provide enrichment, and build community among students.

Our expansive programs strengthen academic readiness, foster creativity and inquiry and are funded in part by Federal Recovery Act funds.  A complete description of more than 80 program offerings is available by clicking on the links below.  The  programs are grouped in two categories:

  • Enrichment Programs (open to all students): These programs offer engaging opportunities to enhance skills and content knowledge, explore an interest, and develop peer relationships that support success in school.
  • Academic Programs (by invitation): These programs are offered to students based on academic need by invitation. Parents of eligible students will be contacted by email with more information.  Academic programs by invitation include:

    • Extension programs for students needing academic support in the humanities and mathematics based upon multiple measures of academic readiness.

    • Orientation/Readiness support for students enrolling in the IB Diploma Program at Harrison High School.

    • Preparation for students entering select IB or AP courses.

    • College Essay Writing open to seniors wishing  to begin their college essay.

    • English Language Learner programs for students who need support developing English proficiency.

    • High School Summer School/Credit Recovery programs for students who need to retake one or more classes to earn required credits for high school graduation.

Registration links will be activated on Monday, May 9, at 7:00 PM.  Each child may be enrolled in up to two (2) summer programs (i.e., either two enrichment programs or one academic program and one enrichment program). Enrollment is available on a first come, first serve basis.

The District continues to prioritize providing a wide range of opportunities to support the intellectual and emotional well being of our students. Our leadership team and teachers are excited to offer a diverse selection of programs and to provide our students another exciting and engaging summer of learning.
