Learning From Home Summer Programs
The Harrison Central School District recognizes that some students may have experienced a learning gap as a result of the school closure, while others would benefit from enrichment experiences that will prepare them for the upcoming school year. The District is offering an engaging series of online summer offerings for K-12 students who have been identified by their teachers as needing this targeted support or enrichment. Teachers and/or guidance counselors will be contacting parents of students to invite them to participate in these summer programs.
K-5 Summer Programs
K-5 Summer Extension Program
This summer, all K-5 students across the district will have access to digital learning modules to continue their learning over the summer. These pre-recorded video lessons and related tasks will bring students through thematic learning experiences in mathematics and literacy. The modules will be made available to coincide with our Summer Extension Program which runs July 20 through August 7.
In addition to offering the learning modules to all, students who have previously received specialized support through our RtI process will be invited to participate in a virtual classroom setting. This program will use the learning modules to frame the learning of the day and will be paired with daily instruction from Harrison elementary teachers. Students specifically invited to participate in the virtual classroom, will be:
-
Engaging with social, emotional, and academic games and experiences
-
Participating in daily small group online math and literacy instruction
-
Receiving daily feedback
-
Engaging in a family celebration of your child's hard work
Further information and enrollment forms will be sent directly to families of students invited to participate. Please contact Christian McCourtney, Supervisor of Elementary Education, at mccourtneyc@harrisoncsd.org, or Stephanie Goldman, Assistant Principal of Parsons, at goldmans@harrisoncsd.org, for more information.
