Learning from Home Summer Resources

The Harrison Central School District recognizes that some students would benefit from access to certain resources during the summer months.  Below you will find several resources that can be accessed by students to enhance content and skills taught throughout the year.

DreamBox

DreamBox is an online math program that is both engaging and proven to boost your child’s math performance. Whether your child is a math whiz or needs help filling in some gaps, the DreamBox platform provides your child with the individualized lessons they need to succeed.  To access Dreambox, click here: DreamBox (Students must use a username and password provided to them by their classroom teacher).

Epic!

A digital reading platform for kids 12 and under. Epic! has 40,000 books, audiobooks, learning videos, quizzes, more. Both English and Spanish books are available.  To access this resource, click here: Epic!

Search for Success - School Library Databases

In the Search for Success Database, you will find a list of many resources that students can access.  These resources include BrainPop, BrainPop Jr, Britannica Online, PebbleGo, TrueFlix, TumbleBooks, WorldBook Online, and many others.  To access this Database, students must click on the link for their school and use the username and password provided to them by their Library Media Specialist.  Links to each school:

Learning A-Z

Learning A-Z is an education technology company dedicated to expanding literacy through thoughtfully designed resources.  Students in grades K-2 have access to this resource.  They must use the username and password provided to them by their classroom teacher.  To access this resource, click here:  Learning A-Z

Junior Library Guild

Junior Library Guild is a free resource that puts the best new eBooks in the hands of K-12 readers.  To access this resource, please use this link:  JLG Digital.  Students need to use the school username and password.  This has been posted as a school resource in SeeSaw.  If you have any questions, please reach out to your building Library Media Specialist.

TypingClub

TypingClub is the most effective way to learn how to type. It is web-based and highly effective.   TypingClub is available to students in grades 3-6.  To access TypingClub, click here:  HCSD-TypingClub  Students must log in using Google.

Code.org

Code.org® is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by women and underrepresented youth. Fun with STEM

There are many ways students can explore STEM from home during the summer.  Take a virtual field trip to one of these exciting museums or conservatories.  See animals in their natural habitats and zoos with Live Cams.  Continue to learn science through Legends of Learning.  Continue to support the preservation of planet Earth through easy and fun activities at home.  Read the free issues of Super Science and Science Spin magazines for grades 3-6 and Science Spin magazine for grades K-1 and grades 2.

Many Arts institutions have online offerings for all ages in Music, Art, Theater and Dance. Whether you wish to visit a museum virtually or view a live Broadway performance, please explore the following collection of links to Arts-enrichment activities for the whole family to enjoy this summer.
