Welcome to the 2021 IB Visual Arts Virtual Exhibition!
The 2021 International Baccalaureate Program Visual Arts Virtual Exhibition features works created by students enrolled in the IB Visual Arts program at Harrison High School.
Students began the IB Visual Arts program during junior year, and as seniors have developed a body of work intended to explore ideas and concepts that have inspired them throughout the past two years. Each student artist brings talent, imagination, and a unique approach as they journey to discover creative voices through art.
The IB Visual Arts curriculum asks students to “submit for assessment a selection of resolved artworks that show evidence of their technical accomplishment during the visual arts course and an understanding of the use of materials, ideas and practices appropriate to visual communication.” In addition, students curate the arrangement of their work to convey artistic intention and write a rationale outlining the scope of their exhibition. The culmination of this work is featured in the 2021 IB Visual Arts Virtual Exhibition.
IB Art teacher Elizabeth Root shared thoughts about the featured student artists, “This year brought many challenges for our young artists. The joy that the arts brings to our community and those around the world, continues to endure whether in person or in a virtual space. I can’t express how proud I am of these young visual artists and their accomplishments. I know they will continue to bring their unique and wonderful perspectives to their future endeavors and help to shape the future into something we can all be proud of.”
Enjoy the work of our talented students!
