HHS Debate Team Finishes with 15 Tournament Wins

This year, the Harrison High School Debate Team won 15 tournaments, including 5 tournament close-outs/ co-championships. A close-out is a co-championship because when the last two debaters standing are both the same school, they're considered co-champions. Team members earned a collective 13 Tournament of Champions (TOC) bids, and qualified four debaters to the TOC competion, closed out two bid tournaments, and reached elimination rounds at nearly every tournament they competed in.

In the novice division, the team posted its strongest season to date. Our debaters won nine tournaments: - Regis, - Monticello, - Isidore Newman, - Lexington, - Columbia (close-out), - Colleyville, - Harvard (JV division), - NDCA Nationals (close-out), The New York State Forensic League championship (three-way close-out). They also placed in the top 5 and/or were in late elimination rounds of multiple other tournaments

Varsity debater achievements included: Championships at Isidore Newman (close-out), UPenn (close-out), the New York Catholic Forensic League championship, and the Harrison Round Robin; top 8 at Yale; top 8 at Harvard; top 8 at NCFL Nationals; top 30 at the Tournament of Champions; top 16 at the Glenbrooks; top 16 at Emory; and the #1-ranked Lincoln-Douglas debater nationally.
