The cast and crew are excited for audiences to experience this “unconventional musical” with Music and Lyrics by Neil Bartram and Book by Brian Hill.  According to Music Theory International, “This unconventional new musical by Drama Desk Award nominees Neil Bartram and Brian Hill is a joyous and moving look at our surprisingly interconnected lives. Through a seemingly unrelated collection of songs, scenes and monologues, The Theory of Relativity introduces a compelling array of characters experiencing the joys and heartbreaks, the liaisons and losses, the inevitability and the wonder of human connection.  The authors interviewed Gen Z musical theatre college students for inspiration and used their stories and experiences to create this musical.  The Theory of Relativity is a touching, honest, funny and endearing musical that probes the minds and hearts of today’s college students as they emerge into a world that is almost impossible to make sense of.”

Tickets to the virtual performance are free, but viewers must register to access the production. Registration allows viewers to view the performance on one device anytime from Friday May 14th @ 7pm until Sunday May 16th @ 11pm.   View the show website

Directors’ Note:

When we started thinking about musicals for this year, we knew that we would be making a remote show- filmed in separate locations and edited together.  We wanted to find a show that honored that format- a show that would work well in that element.

We also wanted a show that was flexible and could fit our students and showcase their skills.  After months of searching for shows, researching and rethinking, we finally settled on The Theory of Relativity. Each time we listen to this show, we discover more about it.   We are so excited to share this story of interconnection, of life experiences, of relationships with our audience.

One review wrote “Take a Physics manual, blend it with the sound of The Book of Mormon, the hilariously nerdy references of The Big Bang Theory, a sprinkle of Chicago, few drops of Glee, bake it in a Broadway bowl, use all the originality you can have…That’s the successful recipe for the spectacular The Theory of Relativity”
