HHS Students Attend NY Jets Sports In Business Day
On Wednesday, October 19th, 40 students from Harrison High School attended NY Jets Sports in Business Day, sponsored by the NY Jets football team held in Metlife Stadium. The event was attended by close to 1,500 students across the tri-state area.
Students toured parts of MetLife Stadium they have never seen before, including the Jets locker room, VIP lounges, suites, and the Coaches Club. They also had the opportunity to ask questions and hear from the Manager of Group Sales, a sports reporter, the Director of Client Relations, the Director of Premium Partnerships, several sales representatives, the Director of Ticket Operations, as well as the Senior Manager of Player Development.
The students learned about various parts of the business such as sponsorships, endorsements, sales, and building relationships. Speakers encouraged students to supplement their academics with internships whenever possible. They told students performing at a high level in the classroom is very important, they should also try to gain real-world experiences when the opportunity arises.
The tour concluded with an opportunity to also walk on the NY Jets football field. To see the stadium from the perspective of an NFL player was amazing. Students were also given a ticket to a NY Jets game. A special thank you to our 4 chaperones: Ms. White, Mrs. O’Brien, Mr. Santo, and Mr. Roberts
