SPRING 2023

Message from the Director of Athletics

Dear Harrison Community,

Spring 2023 was another amazing season both on and off the field for the Harrison Huskies. Four teams earned League Championships: Softball, Baseball, Girls Track and Field, and Boys Track and Field. And all of our varsity teams earned the distinction as Scholar Athlete Teams. I could not be more proud of our student athletes.

Every single Husky athlete on every Harrison team, varsity, JV and modified approached the season with enthusiasm, determination, and a commitment to coming together as a team. They represented their school and community with pride each time they stepped onto the field, track or court.

This spring eight graduating seniors committed to continue their sports at the NCAA Division 1 and 3 levels; in total 11 members of the Class of 2023 will compete at the next level.  At their signing ceremonies, student athletes reflected on all they learned as a Husky, the importance of teamwork and character on and off the field,  and the value of community.  We look forward to all they will accomplish.

Join me in celebrating the successes of all our student athletes, teams and coaches in the latest Harrison Athletics Spring Newsletter.

Sincerely,

Christopher Galano, Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics

Harrison Students to Compete at Next Level

This spring, eight Harrison athletes committed to compete in their sports at the NCAA Division 1 and 3 levels.  Student athletes attending D1 schools: Dylan Haines-Fordham University (football), Luke Burden-Northwestern University (baseball), Rebecca Segovia-Hofstra University (cheer). Student athletes attending D3 schools: Sabina Kalenz-Lasell University (volleyball), Sabina Cosmo-Manhattanville College (field hockey), Ava Cefaloni-Dickinson College (soccer), Peter Rinello-Springfield College (football), Aaron Malen-Hartwick College (football). These student athletes join Mateo Ponce Ocampo-Georgetown University (soccer), Katrina Torelli-Bucknell University (cross country), and Nick Reed-University of Buffalo (football), who made commitments earlier this year. Congratulations to all our student athletes who are taking Husky Pride to the next level!

Modified Teams

This Spring a new wave of student athletes became part of the Husky community. Students participated in Baseball, Softball, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, and Track and Field. Students focused on building skills, relationships, and learned how to become part of a team. The modified program is the foundation of our High School athletics program; coaches and players focus on development throughout the season.  The LMK athletics spring season came to a close with the Annual Maroon vs. White Baseball and Softball games in front of friends, family, coaches, and high school students. The future looks bright for our young Huskies!
