Extraordinary Educators Recognized at Tenure Celebration
Members of the Harrison schools learning community gathered in the Harrison High School Performing Arts Center on September 21 and 22 to celebrate the tenure of teachers and administrators. The celebration was held on two nights to allow for social distancing.
Dr. Wool began the evening, “Welcome to our extraordinary teachers. We are proud of you.” He also shared that celebrating newly tenured colleagues is his favorite night of the school year, because we recognize the great work teachers do on behalf of children.
Members of the District leadership team reflected on the “amazing,” “thoughtful,” “authentic,” and “purposeful” work of newly tenured teachers. They shared how each teacher created opportunities for students to succeed and brought the district’s core values, equity, access, adaptability and rigor, to life in classrooms.
Dr. Wool observed, “There is magic when teachers care about kids. It’s transformational.” He concluded the celebrations by thanking teachers for “doing the right work,” for all they have done for Harrison’s children, and for all they will continue to do.
