April 14: LMK Principal's Message

Dear LMK Families,

I hope you are doing well and staying safe.  We have now been Learning from Home for over a month.  During this time we have developed routines with our students.  These routines include assignments that are posted daily and those that take place over a few days. Faculty are in constant communication with students through email and virtual communication platforms.  Please remind your children to check email regularly for messages from teachers and me.

All New York State Grade 3-8 exams and Regents exams are now canceled.  Students enrolled in Algebra 1 will earn a high school credit based on a passing grade in the course.  Governor Cuomo issued an executive order extending all public school district closures through April 29, 2020.

We recognize that Learning From Home presents new challenges to parents. It is our commitment to support you and your family with ways to create the optimal learning environment in your home.   Scheduling strategic breaks during student work time are helpful. When we are physically in school, changes from class to class offer small amounts of time for breaks.  Students should enjoy a snack, lunch, exercise or play a game with you (many are instructional). Structured breaks make for a better day. Counselors, psychologists, assistant principals, and I meet regularly to discuss student-related concerns, and we are a resource to you.  We can schedule a google hangout with you and your child if you are struggling in this new environment. Please do not hesitate to reach out for support.

Reminders:

The District provides free breakfast and lunch for eligible students. If you are currently eligible but have not yet applied, please complete the request form.  If your circumstances have changed and you are in need of food assistance contact your principal. All inquiries are confidential.

If your child needs a device, if there is a problem with your equipment, or if your family does not have internet access, the District will provide a device and/or a mobile hotspot to deliver internet access. If you require technology support please complete this form. If you have questions contact Brian Seligman (914-630-3389) or (seligmanb@harrisoncsd.org).

Ms. Colosimo, Mr. Spector and I continue to be here for you to answer any questions and offer our support.

Sincerely yours,

Scott Fried
